This great state park is located just a few miles north of Tucson on Oracle Road/Hwy 77. It is set at the foot of the Santa Catalina Mountains.

Here is the private back-in site that became the APPLE's home. There are only 48 sites, half of which have electric and water hook-ups.

We had a spacious site with a picnic table and this wonderful view!

This campground is very popular and fills quickly each day.

There is great hiking in the desert and mountains of this special park. We'll
be back here for sure!

We lucked out when the angels brought us to this beautiful park about 35 miles north of Tucson on I-10.

You can see the campground set at the base of a uniquely shaped mountain called Picacho Peak.

We had a very spacious site here with a picnic table and fire ring. There were both pull-through and back-in sites in the dry camping area. (Note: Skip the hook-up sites unless you like diagonal parking in an asphalt parking lot! Ugh!)

The wildflower bloom here was the best in 20+ years. I have never seen so many gorgeous flowers anywhere.

We shot many rolls of film during our two visits in March and April. What a
great place to catch the spring beauty of the desert.
